5 Social Media Platforms That Will Pay You For Your Content

TikTok is a trendsetter in more ways than one. While the app may have gotten you whipping coffee in quarantine or sourcing your wardrobe from Depop, it’s got whole companies following in its footsteps as well. In July 2020, TikTok announced its Creator Fund—a $1B promise to eligible creators to compensate them for making popular videos. Since then, countless other apps have launched their own money pots that successful creators can earn from thanks to their stand-out content.

Here are five platforms with creator funds that can help you earn extra money online:

TikTok

Creators who’ve received 100K authentic video views in the last 30 days are eligible to join TikTok’s Creator Fund. A creator can then earn money from their videos based on the number of views and level of engagement they receive. While TikTok hasn’t shared an explicit formula, an everyday creator can expect to make a couple cents or dollars a day.

Pinterest

Earlier this year, Pinterest launched its $500,000 creator fund, dispersed among creators hand-picked by Pinterest in an effort to elevate creators from underrepresented communities. The company then launched a $20 million Creator Rewards fund for U.S. creators who participate in specific Pinterest challenges.

Instagram and Facebook

Instagram and Facebook have committed to paying out $1B to creators through 2022. The program is currently invite-only, but allows creators to earn money through things like live streaming, as well as bonus structure.

YouTube

YouTube’s creator fund focuses on Shorts, their version of Reels or TikTok. $100M is being distributed over the course of 2021-2022 to Shorts creators that receive the most views engagement with no eligibility restrictions!

Snapchat

Snapchat’s Spotlight feature, its own version of TikTok, reportedly earned 5,400 creators a combined $130 million in just six months. Creators similarly earn money from Spotlight videos based on views and engagement.
